Ecumenical Assistance Programme (EAP)

This page gives an outline of the World Student Christian Federation's Ecumenical Assistance Programme.

Ecumenical Assistance Programme (EAP) Background
The WSCF Inter-Regional Office administers project grants to national Student Christian Movements through its Ecumenical Assistance Programme (EAP).

Originally set up after the Second World War, the Ecumenical Assistance Programme (EAP) was designed to give concrete and practical support to Student Christian Movements as they built up their local and national work. The EAP is an instrument through which partner groups, churches and agencies can contribute to the movement building and activities of Student Christian Movements around the world.
The scope and focus of the programme is directed by the EAP Commission, a group made up of WSCF Executive Committee members and staff.
Currently the principal funders of EAP are the German Churches' Global development agency EED and the WSCF Centennial Fund. Any individual or organisation committed to supporting the work of WSCF and Student Christian Movements around the globe is encouraged to contribute to this programme.

Objectives of the Ecumenical Assistance Programme

  • To support projects aimed at movement building and development in areas of: empowerment of peoples, skills development, education and information exchange.
  • To encourage projects promoting gender justice and partnership between women and men.
  • To nurture movements discovering and exploring ways to alleviate poverty within different contexts and regions.
  • To demonstrate the Christian faith in activities which engage people of marginalised groups in dialogue (such as minority religious or ethnic groups), looking for ways to communicate differences and similarities.
  • To assist projects promoting ecumenical sharing of resources and solidarity among WSCF member movements - through the exchange of experiences, personnel or though inter/intra regional encounters.

The Ecumenical Assistance Programme supports projects on a two-year funding and reporting cycle. Some recently completed projects are listed below. To view the most recent EAP project summaries on these and other projects, please go to EAP Project Summaries
